Text 19 Mar A long lost mind game…

It was such an insane day at work today that I didn’t even get the chance to crack the new book I started reading. I’m on a mission to read as many books as possible over the next few weeks and months. I don’t have a target number of books or a specific goal other than to go page for page, “chain reading” books like an addict would like one cigarette off the last burning end of the one before it.

I used to read for pleasure and enjoyment all the time when I was younger, but since high school has finished years ago and given way to university, I haven’t spent much time on personal reading. With the sheer volume of reading that I’ve had to do through university, I almost grew some resentment for literature, if even just a bit.

My brain feels like it has been deprived of nutrients, deprived of the exercise that it needs to grow over the past few years, almost like I’m a bit rusty in the critical thinking department. But it’s not that I don’t read at all - I actually read a ton. I devour multiple articles and blogs and newspapers every single day, but books have somewhat fallen to the wayside for me. I’m determined to change that, and it started yesterday.

I am going to rekindle the lost love of reading that I held in such high regard as a younger person and there’s only one way to do it - cold turkey. But in this case, I’m not quitting; I’m starting cold turkey. I hope to document as much of this journey as I can through this blog and by the end, I plan to see how much I truly learned and enjoyed along the way. You can follow along if you care and I encourage you to come for the ride and check out some of the books that I tackle. I’m also hoping that I can get some suggestions on books to take a run at - none will go unopened.

I’m open to every and all books, from biography to fiction to personal growth and everything in between and beyond. I plan to reclaim my intellect and my love for the written word. And it starts with “Mozart’s Brain and the Fighter Pilot”. Incredibly interesting so far. I’ll post my initial learnings tomorrow (only partway in so far) and hopefully a synopsis of what it’s done for me when I reach the end. Here’s to a few hundred sheets of paper, some ink and a bit of glue.

Later days…

However, we will be taking a break from being a full-time band, and the upcoming tour in the Spring will be the last one for the foreseeable future.

Text 23 Jun Permission to Land

I just spent the last two days in a sales seminar that focused on learning your personal sales style. Turns out I’m a highly Affective personality, which in lamens terms means I’m down to party early and often. But aside from this, it also gives me permission to be myself, which includes not paying attention, jumping off task, being attracted to shiny things and big ideas, and generally having a good time. This I like.

What kind of style do you fit under?
